Since Facebook has bought Instagram for nearly a billion dollars in cash and stock, many users, bloggers, economy experts have thought Instagram could build its first real photo camera. ADR Studio imagined the Instagram icon becoming a real life digital instant film camera – the outcome is the Instagram Socialmatic Camera.

Socialmatic is the first Instagram photo camera, with a lot of amazing features:

- 16 GB mass storage;
- Wifi and Bluetooth;
- 4:3 touchscreen;
- 2 main lens, first for main capture, second for 3D filters, webcam applications and QR Code capturing;
- Optical zoom;
- Led Flash;
- Internal printer to make your Instagram photos real;
- Paper cartridge with Instagram Paper Sheets;
- Dedicated 4 colors ink tanks;
- InstaOs 1.0, which put together Facebook and Instagram App feature;

Take your shoot with Instagram Socialmatic, make your photo cool as you want and share it directly on Facebook.
If you want, you can print it directly on Instagram Paper Sheets, thanks to the internal printer.

At the moment Instagram Socialmatic is only a concept. Stay tuned if this becomes a reality.

The Hundreds’ GWM5600TH-1 features world time for 48 cities, contained in a sleek, shock resistant, multi-purpose timepiece. We are very excited to have collaborated with Casio G-Shock on a piece that makes sense for all parties involved, “ said Bobby Hundreds.

Research In Motion leaders Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis are stepping down as executives and co-chairmen of the board in the biggest shakeup in the history of the Waterloo, Ont.-based start-up turned global smartphone giant. The sudden move follows a year of decline in which RIM lost three-quarters of its market value, botched the launch of its PlayBook tablet and watched rivals eat into the BlackBerry’s market share.

In the most dramatic change since the company was founded 27 years ago, the new chief executive will be Thorsten Heins. Recruited by Mr. Balsillie and Mr. Lazaridis five years ago, he came to be a trusted adviser and their hand-picked successor. Barbara Stymiest replaces Mr. Balsillie and Mr. Lazaridis as chair of the board of directors

Calls for radical change at the company have been mounting in recent months. Its BlackBerry device blazed the trail for smartphones and has 75 million active subscribers around the world, but RIM has struggled of late with dwindling market share and fierce competition from Apple Inc.’s iPhone and an array of devices running Google Inc.’s Android operating system.

The catalyst for change appears to have been the entry of a new personality: reserved but revered investor Prem Watsa, CEO of Fairfax Financial. Mr. Watsa, who has been called Canada’s Warren Buffett for his business acumen, has been quietly buying RIM stock for some time. Fairfax is now one of RIM’s largest shareholders, and Mr. Watsa is being appointed to the company’s board of directors after playing a role in key discussions in recent weeks.

Critics of the company’s performance may not be immediately impressed by a management shakeup that involves so little fresh blood. Mr. Heins, a former executive at Siemens, is simply moving up the ranks, while Ms. Stymiest, who once headed stock market operator TSX Group, has been a director since 2007. But RIM’s new leadership – including Mr. Watsa, Mr. Heins and Ms. Stymiest – suggested in interviews with The Globe and Mail on Sunday that they are content with the company’s strategic direction and products.

“There’s no need for me to shake this company up or turn it upside down,” Mr. Heins said at RIM’s Waterloo headquarters. “We are not at a point where we try to define a strategy. That’s done.”

Mr. Balsillie and Mr. Lazaridis have been grooming Mr. Heins as a successor for some time and say they decided to act as the company enters a new phase. RIM’s newest BlackBerry 7 devices are now out in the market, its PlayBook tablet is receiving a software revamp in February and its next-generation operating system – BlackBerry 10, which is meant to save the company – is launching later this year.

“Jim and I approached the board and we told them that the time is now,” Mr. Lazaridis said.

The board agreed, both with that decision and the suggestion from Mr. Balsillie and Mr. Lazaridis that Mr. Heins was the best candidate for the role of CEO. In addition, the directors decided to try to recruit Mr. Watsa, a prominent and respected outsider, at a time when the company was under fire for a co-CEO, co-chair governance structure that critics felt was contributing to RIM’s growing problems.

Mr. Lazaridis and Mr. Watsa were introduced in 2009 by David Johnston, who is now Canada’s Governor-General but at the time was the long-standing president of the University of Waterloo.

Apple’s press events have long ceased to become simple announcements and have grown to be more like rock concerts or runway shows everyone want to be looped in on real time. The next Apple press event will be held soon on October 20, and for the past few events, we have seen the iPad, the iPhone 4, and of course, a collection of remodeled iPods. So, what is to come? Verizon iPhone? iPad 2.0? Well, while details are definitely sketchy at best for now, the invite does take us “Back to the Mac.” so we can safely assume the next announcement has something to do with a new Mac OS? With the lion peeking out from the bitten apple, perhaps the successor to the Snow Leopard will be the Lion and we will know more about the OS X, a non-mobile product?

Stay tuned on October 20 as that is when everything will go down.

Research In Motion today redefined the possibilities for mobile computing with the unveiling of its new professional-grade BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Perfect for either large organizations or an “army of one”, the BlackBerry PlayBook is designed to give users what they want, including uncompromised web browsing, true multitasking and high performance multimedia, while also providing advanced security features, out-of-the-box enterprise support and a breakthrough development platform for IT departments and developers. The incredibly powerful and innovative BlackBerry PlayBook is truly a game-changing product in the growing tablet marketplace.

This beautifully designed and incredibly powerful tablet is ultra portable, ultra thin and super convenient for both work and play. Measuring less than half an inch thick and weighing less than a pound, the BlackBerry PlayBook features a vivid 7″ high resolution display that looks and feels great in your hand. With such a unique mix of utility, performance and portability, you’ll want to take it everywhere. The BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to be available in retail outlets and other channels in the United States in early 2011. Further information is offered below:

    At its heart, the BlackBerry PlayBook is a multitasking powerhouse. Its groundbreaking performance is jointly fueled by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and the new BlackBerry Tablet OS which supports true symmetric multiprocessing. Together, the abundant processing power and highly sophisticated OS enable the BlackBerry PlayBook to provide users with true multitasking and a highly-responsive and fluid touch screen experience for apps and content services.

    With support for Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1, Adobe® Mobile AIR® and HTML-5, the BlackBerry PlayBook provides customers with an uncompromisable, high-fidelity web experience and offers them the ability to enjoy all of the sites, games and media on the web. For more than a decade, the mobile industry has worked to bridge the gap between the “real web” and mobile devices through various apps and technologies and, in fact, a significant number of mobile apps today still simply serve as a proxy for web content that already exists on the web. The BlackBerry PlayBook closes that gap and brings the real, full web experience to mobile users while also opening new and more exciting opportunities for developers and content publishers.

    The BlackBerry PlayBook features premium multimedia features to support high-quality mobile experiences. It includes dual HD cameras for video capture and video conferencing that can both record HD video at the same time, and an HDMI-out port for presenting one’s creations on external displays. The BlackBerry PlayBook also offers rich stereo sound and a media player that rivals the best in the industry.

    For those BlackBerry PlayBook users who carry a BlackBerry smartphone*, it will also be possible to pair their tablet and smartphone using a secure Bluetooth® connection. This means they can opt to use the larger tablet display to seamlessly and securely view any of the email, BBM™, calendar, tasks, documents and other content that resides on (or is accessible through) their smartphone. They can also use their tablet and smartphone interchangeably without worrying about syncing or duplicating data. This secure integration of BlackBerry tablets and smartphones is a particularly useful feature for those business users who want to leave their laptop behind.

    Key features and specifications of the BlackBerry PlayBook include:

    * 7″ LCD, 1024 x 600, WSVGA, capacitive touch screen with full multi-touch and gesture support
* BlackBerry Tablet OS with support for symmetric multiprocessing

Dee & Ricky, the New York based fashion design duo, have lent their trademark retro style to the latest edition to the G-Shock Family, the GA110DR-1A. This limited edition chronograph perfectly pairs an extra-large analog/digital with the Dee & Ricky design sensibility seen on fashion runways and metropolitan sidewalks worldwide.

The GA110DR-1A uses rudimentary building blocks as a starting point, the design draws on primary colors to mimic the appearance of a toy watch. Like the duo’s signature Lego®-based designs, all the details pop against the black backdrop. A never seen G-Shock technique combines contrasting LCDs, gear-shaped hands and other parts to create a distinct multidimensional effect exclusive to the GA110DR-1A. To further customize the timepiece, the Dee & Ricky logo appears on the band and the engraved backcase features the Dee & Ricky caricature.

“Better watch us like this Dee & Ricky G-Shock,” said Dee and Ricky Jackson.

“G-Shock is pleased to collaborate with the fashion brand, Dee & Ricky,” said Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “As the first brand to customize the new G-Shock GA110 model, Dee & Ricky create a fusion of cutting edge G-Shock technology and fashion-forward style that will surely make this watch a collectors’ item.”

Remaining rooted in G-Shock technology, the Dee & Ricky X G-Shock is JIS Class Level I magnetic resistant to protect against the effects of magnetic fields often found in airport metal detectors. Additional GA110 features include shock resistance, 200M water resistance, Auto LED Light with Afterglow, 48 City World Time, 1/1000th Stopwatch with speed indicator, and 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Auto Calendar and Hourly Time Signal.

Available at loop in July 2010,

About Dee & Ricky
Hailing from Staten Island, Dimitrious and Ricky Jackson are the 22-year-old twin brothers behind their eponymous accessories line Dee and Ricky. Completely self-taught, they picked up their design smarts watching their grandma behind her sewing machine and watching the fly stylish money makers run the streets and began customizing their own pieces in the 9th grade.

The brothers went on to create a hugely popular collection of Lego accessories, and while attending a function in the Hamptons in the summer of 2007 were spotted wearing the new designs by stylist Jason Preston. Preston in turn introduced them to designer Marc Jacobs, and a meeting at MJ HQ was quickly scheduled. Within days Dee and Ricky were hard at work designing a full range of Lego accessories for the Marc by Marc Jacobs spring ’08. Their signature belts and heart-shaped brooches are currently sold in boutiques across the globe including Colette in Paris and Kid Robot in New York and have been worn by an endless list of high-profile celebrities, the likes of Kanye West, Beyonce. Nigo Murakami and MIA.

It seems as if Microsoft had little idea that it was going to pass the one million mark across Australia and New Zealand, when it commissioned a custom Xbox completely studded with Swarovski crystals. However, to celebrate the millionth console, Microsoft is auctioning off one-of-a-kind consoles to raise money for the David Peachey Foundation. Designed by Richard Taylor and the Weta Workshop, the Halo console has currently being placed at AU$620 on eBay. The winning amount for the Halo console will be matched up to $10,000 by Microsoft New Zealand for a donation to Cure Kids.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all before, along comes a nifty new idea that has you eating your words like alphabet spaghetti on toast. Introducing U-Lace, coming this Spring to LOOP. U-Lace is an ingeniously simple new lacing system that makes complicated lace-ups a thing of the past!

U-Lace is basically a series of elasticised strips that are capped with hard plastic tips that tuck into your eyelets to fix the shoe to your feet. Just poke one tip in a hole and stretch it out before dunking it into another hole to complete the deal. It’s super easy-peasey and makes light work of complicated lace algorithms.

Each handy pack contains 16 different U-Lace segments and some even contain a mix of colours that are ready for triple dipping, so you don’t need to be Good Will Hunting to work out that the potential variety of lace jobs you can create with them is mathematically infinite!These things are so damn simple to use, it’s a snap. But if you do get stuck for an idea, the packaging also comes with some handy hints. And if you’re aesthetically hooked on laces, you can still use them to create a bow on the top row of your kicks, so don’t sweat the technique.

The machine is a Rube Goldberg machine which can serve you an omelet, coffee and a toast with jam. Yuri and Masa invited other designers and the public to help build and design the machine. They’ve used recycled remnants of previous Platform21 projects to solve all the different problems to get to their goal. Last weekend the machine was ready and served all-day breakfasts to the visitors.

Pee-Wee’s breakfast machine had a little more spunk.

Nikon’s camera range has received a new marquee body with the unveiling of the Nikon D3s. The full-frame 12.1 MP DSLR will be of interest for those with hefty bank accounts and professionals disinterested with huge megapixel sensors in addition to maintaining to wanting awesome low-light performance. While the ISO can be cranked up to an unheard of 102,400, we do assume that ISO ranges between 200 and 12,800 will ultimately be very clean. The one low-point of the release does seem to be the fact that the video feature only allows for 720p video and not a full 1080 which is quickly becoming the norm. The D3s body will be available in November with a suggested retail price of $5,200 USD.
